Install Microsoft fonts in Linux

If you frequently exchange documents with Microsoft Windows user’s, or visit Web sites that have been formatted with Microsoft fonts, you may wish to install the following standard Microsoft fonts under Ubuntu.

The Linux Mint site, another GNU/Linux distribution, explains how to do this in their forum. Although it’s even easier if your using Ubuntu:

  1. You may wish to back up your /etc/fonts folder, just in case ;-)
  2. Make sure your connected to the Internet so that it can download the packages
  3. Run the following command in the terminal - sudo apt-get install msttcorefonts
  4. That’s it!
