Using Ubuntu
As the site and the associated book is called Using Ubuntu, I thought I should start the posts with a summary of some the users of Ubuntu that can be found on the Internet.
Ubuntu Case Studies
The Ubuntu web site lists some case studies for the Ubuntu operating system, these include:
- German regional airline, Contact Air, chose Ubuntu to install on 120 laptops for use by pilots. They chose Ubuntu for enhanced security, outstanding support and reduced maintenance times.
- The Wellcome Trust Sangar Institute chose Ubuntu to provide training course to researchers in developing countries.
Michael Dell
The Dell website reports that Michael Dell, Chairman of Dell Computers, uses Ubuntu 7.04 on his laptop computer.
Google are reported, and commented on by Mark Shuttleworth on his blog, to use Ubuntu internally.
